PORT CHALMERS.

{From our oion Correspondent.) ARRIVALS. Gem, from Hobart Town;. Robert and Betsey, Launceston; Union, Melbourne; Vistula, Melbourne; Danube, Melbourne; Success, Newcastle. The s.s. Lady Bird arrived at Port Chalmers at 4 a.m. yesterday morning. She left Port Philip Heads at 6.30 p.m. on Monday, 23fd inst. Experienced favourable winds the first part of the voyage, and strong head winds during the remainder of the passage. The fine fast steamer City of Hobart is laid on for the Otago trade. She was to sail from Melbourne on 30th December.

The Matilda experienced very severe weather, and a violent gale on the 20th. Lost port-rail, stove two boats in the skids, and other damage. The Mountain Wave experienced bad weather throughout the passage; lost 12 horses, and some sails. .

The Lady Bird passed the Aldinga off the Bluff. A flattering testimonial was presented to Captain Headstrom, of the schooner "Yarra," by the passengers, on their arrival at Dunedin. The " Yarra" made the passage from Melbourne to Otago in nine days.
