Jones, Bird & Co.'s Report.— The market is completely glutted with horses of nearly every description. First-class Tasmanian heavy draught horses are particularly in excess of demand; in fact, all kinds of draught horses are extremely dull of sale, and are only moved off at a certain loss to shippers. First-class hacks are enquired for, particularly strong and. handsome cobs, but there is only a small market for them. We quote really first-class draught horses from £70 to £90 • little or no demand. Seconds, from £50 to £60 ; l.ght draught and useful hacks from £25 to £35 ; and this on a falling market. Tip drays, from £19 to £24 10s, no demand ; ordinary drays the same. Buggies, spring carts, &c, no enquiry. The last commercial reports from Melbourne state that 'more animation exists in that market, considerable shipments taking place to Otago. The revival of emigration hence had, however, influenced the country markets, and orders were given less freely than a week ago. Inquiries for flour was more moderate. Colonial oats remain in request, at steadily supported prices. In Sydney business was reviving, and an active trade anticipated. Recent intelligence from England had given the wine and spirit trade an upward tendency. In wool there has been no actual advance in price, but there has been a greater disposition to operate on the part of purchasers. Well grown line fleece wool, well-washed, realized Is. 9|d. per 1b..;. full and scoured, 2s.
