It is supposed to extend north of the Bogan, and south to Canowindra. One hole produced 73 (seventy-three) ounces to the first bucket. General yield 30 (thirty) to (40) ounces to the tub. In best claims very general success. Two other leads have been struck, each about a mile distant. Yield ve.y heavy. Friday, 5 p.m. Intense excitement in town, in consequence of the news of the Lachlan diggings. Several large finds have been reported. On Monday Ivirkpatrick and party obtained sixty-two ounces. On Tuesday they got a pint pot full of gold. A second lead is struck. Population 10.000 people. Police protection required. Several rows harctaken phve at night. There is likely to be great trouble with respect to the frontage claims.
