The escaped convict, Stamford, who was captured by Detective Eason, lias been committed for trial. James O'Connor, charged with receiving £1,580 in stolen notes of the Union Bank, in 1858, has been brought up at the City Court and remanded. Robberies by fossicking puddling mills are being perpetrated in Forest Creek; in some instances the thieves have been cool enough to wash the contents. A mill in Wattle Flat was robbed of several ounces one ni^ht. Spurious gold continues to be offered for sale by Chinese settlers. The imitation is said to be beautifully manufactured, and calculated to deceive any but well-experienced buyers. A man named George Gillcrs Hart met with a serious accident while working a claim on Mac's Reef, near Hustler's.
