COMMERCIAL.

Messrs. Turnbull, Bing & Co. held a small sale -of "assorted drapery goods yesterday,—the goods realised pretty fair prices. Jones, Bird & Co. offered for sale on Tuesday a very superior lot of bullocks and heifers, all of which obtained good prices. There was a good attendance, and prices realised were about the average Market. Bullocks, from £17 to £20 ; heifers, £14 to £17. Their sale of horse stock, yesterday, was well attended—buyers were numerous —but from the absence of a good stamp of horses, few sales were effected.1" Those that were sold realised good prices. The stamp of horses imported lately has much improved. We no longer see miserable weeds starved and scarcely able to stand in the yard, offered for sale, but fine upstanding draught horses in fair condition, and which realized corres-

ponding, prices bring from £80 to £120 each. Importers seem at last to have found out that this kind of horses pays better than weeds do, (in fact the lattter will scarcely go off at all now) and we think that Messrs. Jones, Bird & Co., and Messrs. M'Caw, Maclean & Co., as well as the Australian carriers, who, however brought down their own horse.?, have assisted them in making this discovery. In connection with this subject, we observe, that large quantities of fodder are being imported daily, and we think it would be well if our suburban settlers were to turn their attention towards the production of hay, straw, &c, for which there is always certain to be a ready sale at good prices.
