The- annual meeting of the Canterbury Salevards Compnnv was held to-day, when I Mr *]•:. C. Of this amount an interim dividend of 4 per cent, was paid, absorbing £616 2s leaving a balance to be dealt with of 7s Id, which the directors recommended should be appropriated as follows : To payment of a dividend of 4 per cent, on the paidin) capital, making a total dividend of 8 per rent, for the vear, £616 2s 7d ; to carry forward £257 4s 6d—£Bl3 7s Id. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said it was unnecessary, he thought, for him to make any lengthv remarks. The balance-sheet spoke for itself, and they would see that the Company had had a successful year. The quantity of stock passed through the yards during the year had been very large. viz . 782.75"5 sheep. 27,778 cattle, and 18.775 pigs. Sheep exceeded the previous year's mmibers l>v 109.554. and constituted a record in the 'historv of Hie Company, and the number of cattle had only once been higher (in .1906). Mr Kaye seconded the adoption of the report, winch was agreed to. The retiring directors (Messrs H. IT. Pitman and (L Ticknor) were reelected. At a subsequent meeting of the directors Mr E. G. Slaveley was re-elected chairman.
