Those millers who were in immediate want of supplies of wheat to carry on with having filled their requirements, the market is settling down to a lower level of prices. There is a considerable amount of new wheat now offering, but in view of its having been threshed out of stock and the grain being naturally softer than in a dry season, buyers are not keen to operate. The risk of the grain sweating in the bags necessarily causes them to exercise caution in the selection of samples. Last week saw buyers declining to make further purchases at the prices that had been paid for immediate supplies, and sales have now been effected on a lower basis. A line of 1600 bushels and another of 4200 bushels have changed hands at 3s 9d at and stations respectively, and 650 bushels at 3s lOd at Christchuvch. For a smaller line of prime milling wheat 4s has been paid for immediate delivery. WOOL SALES. IPkK I'KESS ASSOCIATION.) Invcrcargill, February 9. The last wool sale of the present scries was held to-day, when 4004 bales were offered and prat tically all were sold. It- was neutrally anticipated, in view of the recent northern sales, that prices would be lower, but considering that there was less than half the quantiy offered, and that most of the best clips had been sold, trices were fully equal to those of the January sale. Lower grade wools were fully £d better. The best prco was obtained for a 3-bale lot of super-bred hoggets,- which sold for lid. The best prices for other sorts were : Halfbred 10|d, strong crossbred Prices were fully up to last sales' quotations. JUNCTION YARDS.
