THE AMATEUR ATHLETIC SPLIT.

(Peb Pbess Association.) Wellington, February 9. At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association a letter was read- from Mr Atack, of Christehurch, suggesting that the championship meeting be carried out at Dunedin by the Otago Centre,, any profit being put in trust with an independent party for the purpose of assisting to send a New Zealand- team to Brisbane in November. The Council resolved as follows: — "That it is not the intention of this Council to give up the control of the championship meeting to be held in Otago, and, further, that if the late Council will place the whole of the funds at present held by the late Council to a trustee account this executive is agreeable also to deal with its share of the profits of the championship meeting at Dunedin in the same manner." The Council approved the programme drafted for the meeting. Mr J. B. Holt, of Dunedin, was appointed a judge in the walking events. Applications for reinstatement as amateurs were granted in the cases of Cecil Duncan (Dunedin), John Botting (South Dunedin), and Chas. Buchanan (Dunedin). W. L. Colvia's (Dunedin) application was refused, and two others were referred to the local centres.
