Airs liogan. the victim of the Glen lnnes tragedy, has succumbed to her injuries. Campbell and Co.'s large general warehouse at, Scone has been destroyed by lire. The damage in the vicinity is £25,000. The work of fighting the fire was rendered dangerous by reason of the cartridges stored in the warehouse discharging hi all directions. Melbourne, February 9. Sir James Alills interviewed the Post-master-General as Lo improving the Vancouver mail service by means of a larger subsidy. He proposed an increase in the subsidy of £19,000, Canada's extra payment being approximately £10,677, Australia's £7665, Fiji's £656, making a total subsidy of £85,000, the contract to be for three years from July olst. In return for the increase, the Union Company would improve the service by additional ships, and give a speed of 14 knots, or 22£ days. The postmaster-General states that he does not object to an increased subsidy, but he thinks it should not be chargeable to the Postal Department.
