Mainland notifies that she resumes teaching the pianoforte on Tuesday, the 9th instant.
To enable passengers from Palmerston and intermediate stations to attend the performance of Wirth's Circus on Monday evening next the Railway Department is arranging a train to leave Oamaru for Palmerston at 10:45 p.m. Sterling Cycles "built like a watch." Price £ls, complete with coaster brakes. W. Bassett and Co., Christchurch. The annual meeting of the Oamaru Beautifying Society will be held in the Town Hall on Monday evening, Bth inst., at 8 p.m. The Rev. F. G. Buckingham will conduct both services at the Baptist Church to-morrow.
The Rev. John Urquhart, who is on a lecturing tour, calling at the chief towns of the South Island, has arranged to deliver two lectures in Oamaru. He is well known in the Old Country and in Australia as an able and valiant defender of the Christian faith, and is considered an expert in the subjects with which he deals. The subjects of the lectures in Oamaru will be: Tuesday evening, "Is the Book cf Genesis a Patchwork '"; Wednesday evening, "The Bible and Science." The Committee who have the arrangements in hand for the Oamaru Woollen Factory Company's annual picnic have decided to hold this usually popular event on the Waimate Domain on Saturday, February 20th. The site chosen is an ideal one, and offers all the advantages for a oicnic ground. It is well shaded, and has ample space for sports, etc. In this issue will be found further particulars. The services at Wesley Church to-mor-row will be conducted in the morning by' the Rev. T. N. Griffin ; in the evening bv the Rev. P. B. Paris (of Invercargill).
