Mr Toy previously visited New Zealand as practically little more than a boy in 1899. He was even then a Licentiatg of the Royal Academy of Music—the youngest in existence —and created a marked impression throughout the Dominion, which had previously had the privilege of listening to Wilhemj, Remenyi, Musin, and other stars of the first magnitude. Since then Mr Toy-has visited all parts of the world, andi has everywhere been greeaed as one of the greatest living players. The Musical Courier, one of the leading London musical publications, says of him : —"Mr Ernest Toy's equipment as a violinist is complete. To technical skill, good tone, and unerring intonation he adds an intelligent and: clear reading, and great variety of effect. His playing of Sarasate's Fantasie on "Faust," an ornatepiece of virtuosity, was a brilliant, animated performance." The concert will be held! in the Wear Street Hall on Tuesday, 16th instant. Patrons are requested to send to' Meldruon's as early as convenient, notifying the number of tickets. they will require.
