The Revue Magazine of Paris states that the Empress of China, before dying, induced Yuanshihkai, Prince Chun and the chief eunuch to compel the Emperor to take opium and sulfocnte himself with galdleaf under a threat of strangulation, and the Emperor complied. Henco the refusal of European medical men to help. The Empress appointed the present ruler, and died next day. London, February 5.
The Portsmouth Conservatives have adopted Major-General Sir E. T. Hutlon as their candidate at the general election. Caetown, February 5.

They agreed to the Bill excluding Japanese from the schools. President Roosevelt telegraphed: "This is the most offensive Bill of all, and is clearly unconstitutional.
