THE WAITARA TRAGEDY.
(Per Pkkss Association.) New Plymouth, February 4. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, the hearing of -evidence in the charge of murder preferred against J)r Goode, of W.-ii-tara, was continued. Eight witnesses were, examined, including |}r Clariilgc, who attended Goode after his arrest, lie deposed that Goode was not drunk, but very much excited, and exceedingly angry at the indignity put upon him by his arrest and being handcuffed. The hospital medical staff .gave evidence that Mrs Klenner died as the result of bullet wounds, anil produced the bullets extracted. Mr Tisdall, gunsmith, saw! the bullets were such as would bo fired from the pistol found in l)r Goode's surgery, and the marks on them corresponded with the peculiar rifling of the weapon. None of the witnesses so far have- been cross-examined. There are still seven witnesses to call out of thirty-two originally on the list.
