(Per Press Association.) Received February 3, at 6.30 p.m. Perth, February 3. The Treasurer introduced a loan Bill for £1,445,000 to meet the expenditure on public works till March, 1910. Hwang Yuing Liang, the Chinese Consul for New Zealand, has arrived here. He is accompanied by his wife and daughter. In an interview on the subject of Australasian restriction on Asiatics, he said the Chinese did not like this, but desired to make investigation before expressing an opinion. China was developing rapidly. and paying more attention to foreign affaire, as was evidenced by the institution of an Australian consular service. Some leading Chinese residents waited on f (wan-. Yuing Liang and informed him that the Australian law was not so rigorously enforced against the Japanese as against the Chinese.

Sydney, February 2. in the marine inquiry into the Inverna and Aovance collision the Court found that the master of tbe tug brought about the disaster by bringing his vessel round from a position on the starboard bow of the Inverna to the reverse position on her ]x>rt' bow. The Court stated that everything that was reasonable and proper had been done by the master of the Inverna to 6ave the crew of the tug. The Judge commented on the recklessness of the "master of the tug in coming alongside the 'ship. A. half-caste named Boswell murderously assaulted the wife of a farmer named Hogan with an axe. The woman ss. in a precarious state. He then shot the husband through the jaw. The husband was taken to the hospitid. Boswell esi taped, but was subsequently found dead I foui' miles away with his throat cut.
