Pollard. ILJd. CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, February 2. Some of the new wheat that farmers have managed to get threshed out of stook is being offered and taken by millers, whose stocks were low. Several small lots have changed hands at 4? at country stations. A line of good milling Tuscan, totalling 5000 bushels, has been sold at 4s Id to 4s 2d, a small portion of it haying been sold early at the higher figure, and the balance has since been disposed of at 4s Id at a country station. There is not much business doing in oats, though there is a fair enquiry, but the broken weather prevents farmers from getting supplies threshed and ready for market. A few sales are being made of feed lines at Is 3d to Is at country stations. Grass seed is still offering freely, but sales are not easy to effect. WAIAKEKA SALE YARDS. The associated auctioneers report having held their usual weekly sale at the Waiareka Yards yesterday. There was a good attendance of farmers and dealers, and the market showed a slightly better tone, and young ewes especially realised good prices. Sheep.—l3so were yarded, comprising ewes, wethers, and store lambs and a fair number of fats. The principal sales were : Fat wethers 15s Id and 14s lOd. fat ewes lis and 10s. medium 8s Id. fat lambs 14s 4d, 2-tooth ewes 18s and 16s 6d, for medium 4-tooth wethers 12s, 2-tooth wethers 15s 10J, 2-tooth wethers (in wool) 14s. forward store iambs lis 9d. Cattle.—Only a small yarding. 14 head being penned, made up principally of medium tats. The following prices were obtained : Fat heifeis £4 lis to £2 2s 6d. fat cows £4 17s 6d and £5 7s 6d. forward steers £5 6s to £5 lis. 2-vcar-old steers £3 14s. .H'NX'TKIX YARDS. Messrs linice Christie and Co. held their usual weekly slock .sale at the .Junction Yards yesterday, when there was a good attendance and also a fair yarding of stock. Cattle.—Beef: Prime steer 21s to 22s per IOQIbs, prime heifer 18s to 19s per 1001b, prime cow 15s per 1001b. Store bullocks (4 to 5 years old and well bred) £6 10s to £3, o-vear-oid bullocks £5 5s to £4 15.,. 2i-vear-old steers £5 15s to £3 ss, 2-year-old steers £2 10s to £2 ss, 18-montiis-old .steers and heifers 35s to 30s. yearlings 25s to 20s. calves 10s. bulls £1 10s to Dairy cows and heifers just at profit) were in better demand, but no really good cows were offered, only medium sorts being yarded. Cows at' profit sold at £6 12s 6d to £6 2s 6d, others at £5 to £4 2s 6d, aged cows £5 12s 6d to £2 10s. Pigs were in_ good _ demand. Best weaners sold at ols to oOs, medium-sized weaners 28s 6d to 25s 6d, small 22s 6d to 17s. Prime baconers, from 1201b to 1601b, are wanted, but heavy weights are hard to sell. HORSE SALE. The North Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association, in conjunction with Messrs Dalgety and Co.. offered at their yards on Saturday a large entry of horses, and especially a nice consignment on account of Mr Wm. MGimpsey, Windsor. Nearly every lot changed hands at satisfactory prices. There is an enquiry for good, young sound "horses, and we would advise clients to try our next sale on the 15th February. The following were the prices obtained: On account of Mr Wm. M'Gimpsey—Bay gelding, £4l; bay gelding. £55 : bay mare. £37 ; bav filly. £34; brown filly, £29. 10s: bay gelding, £34 10s ; brown mare, £32 10s: bav gelding, £55: bay gelding. £4B. On account of Mr John Shaw—Chestnut gelding. £4O; bay gelding, £O6: grey filly, £23. On account of Mr T. Dexter—Grey hack, £8 15s. On account of Mr R. M'Gillivrav— Chestnut mare, £22. TEMUKA YARDS. The usual fortnightly sale was held at the-above yards yesterday, when a moderate yarding, comprising barely 2000 sheep and 56 head of cattle was forward. The few pens of fat sheep that were offered: met with a splendid demand, and sold at prices quite Is a head better than those of last sale. Fat cattle and forward stores were also well competed for, and 6old at satisfactory prices. Quotations: Fat ewes 15s 4d to 14s 2d, do ewes and wethers 14s Yd, store lambs lis Id to 13s 3d, store ewes, 80 two and four-tooth 17s 7d, ISO six and eigth-tooth 14s 9d, 420 old ewes with lambs 6s 6d. Cattle.—Fat steers £7 5s to £7 15s, do heifers £6 to £7 2s 6d, do cows £4 5s to £5 10s; store, steers £5 to £5 ss, heifers, £5 to £o 15s, bulls to £2, calves and yearlings 15s to 355.
