(Per i'rk.ss Association.) WELLINGTON. February 1. It may I* remembered that at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association the President (Mr 11. A. Marriner) gave it as his opinion that fishermen must be regarded as professionals, therefore ineligible to compete in races under the auspices of the Association. The Council decided to obtain a legal opinion from Mr H. D. Bell, K.C., which was read at a meeting of the Council to-night. It stated that fishermen -as such were not professionals, and the Coun.il therefore passed a resolution to that effect. The Hon.
