THE TITTELL BRUNE SEASON.
"The Girl of the Golden West," a play with, a record! of two years at the Belaeco Theatre, New York, will be the opening production at the Opera House on Tuesday evening, when Mr J. O. Williamson presents Miss Tittell Brune to local theatre-goers. "The Girl of the Golden West" is a story of a Galiforniaa mining community in the time of 1849-50. The romance attached to this period of American history is said to lend' itself to the playwright from both the dramatic and scenic points of view. The Telegraph, Sydney, says of the production:—"One of the most extraordinary plays ever produced on the Australasian stage. It breathes vividly, passionately, and absorbingly of the 'Great West,' which has inspired so many pens. It tells in vivid terms of accurate reproduction, all' the wonderfully interesting circumstances of the wild'life of those days—its impulses, its hopes, its loves, and strange morality. It is full of living interest from beginning to end." The leading roles are played by Miss.Bruiie as "The Girl," and Mr Thomas Kingston as "Dick Johnson." Oil Wednesday evening a- new romantic comedy, "Diana of Dobson's," by Cicely Hamilton, will be staged. It is now being played nightly at the Ivingsway Theatre, London, by Miss Lena Ashwell, and has proved one of the few triumphs of the present London season. Miss Brune appears as Diana Massingherd, Mrs Robert Brough as Mrs Gantelupe, and Mr Thomas Kingston as the Hon. Victor Butherton. The box plan for both performances are open at the Dresden, and the booking indicates a prosperous visit for the company to Oamaru.
