Not even the most fastidious person could desire finer weather than that which was experienced to-day for the above races. The course was in capital order, the late rains making the grass look fresh and green. The attendance was not so large as we expected to see, but this is probably owing to approaching festivities, the public reserving their " superfluous cash" for the Christmas holidays. However, there could not have been less than 300 on the course when the first race started, and this number was considerably increased during the afternoon. The whole of the publicans' booths were under the charge of Mi\ W. Maitland, who, it will not be doubted, did his beat to satisfy the wants of the thirsty. A number of policemen under the charge of Sergeant-Major Thompson were present, but we did not hear of any occasion in which 'their services were required. Messrs. Lyons and Hart had two totalisators on the course, which interfered greatly with the "I'll lay" gentlemen. The arrangements in connection'with the racing are being carried oiit by the stewards in a very satisfactory manner, each doing his best to make the day an enjoyable one to visitors. Inuring the afternoon the Rifles' Band played some capital music. The following are the results :
