"OUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Borough of Oamaru intend to make on THURSDAY, the 9th day of DECEMBER, 1880, the following WATER RATES, under the authority of Section 253, of the " Municipal Corporations Aot, 1876 " In respect of the ordinary supply—(a) Upon all Lands and Buildings towlticTs water is supplied, whoso ratable value on the Valuation Roll Does not exceed £l2 10s, a rate o£ 10s per anuum Exoeeds £l2 10s, but does not exceed £•200, a rate of six par cent, on such value Exceeds £2OO, but does not exceod £3OO, a rato oE five per cent, on .such value Exceeds £3OO, a rato of four per cont„ on euch value. (b) Upon all Landß and Buildings,, to which water can be, but is not sup. plied, situate within 100 yards from any part of the Waterworks, a rate of one half of the rates above mentioned. (c) Upon all Buildings used as stores or warehouses, or for any purposo other than as dwelling-houses, a rate of 2J per cent, on the ratable value. (d) Any Dwelling-housa remaining actually unoccupied for not less than six months in any year, if the owner cr occupier gives notice in writing to the Council of the dates on which the same becomes vacant and on whioh it is again occupied, shall bo rated at only one half of the amount otherwise payable in respect thorc. of. The foregoing rates to apply and be for rhe twelve months ending 31st October, 1881. The rates to be payable in each ease in two half-yearly instalments on tho 10th day of December, 1880, and tho 10th day of June, IS3I. Further, that the Water-rate Book is opou for inspection by all water-rate payers at the office of the undersigned, Borough Council Chambers, Thames-Btreet, Oamaru, between the hours of 9.30 a.m. and 5 p.m., oa Saturdays between 9,30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dated the 25th day of November, 1880.
