LATE ENGLISH AND FOREIGN NEWS.

(SPECIAL TO MELBOURNE AGE). London, November 24.

Members of the Fenian organisation, taking advantage of disturbances caused by the land agitation in Ireland, have lately been unusually. . demonstrative, more especially in the southern provinces. In Cork, where they number some thousands, they have assumed a defiant attitude, and have caused much disquiet. The authorities, being well informed by spies of their proceedings, yesterday arrested fifteen of the leaders of the movement and lodged them in gaol. The City of Cork is in a state of great excitement, but the military and police available are sufficient to prevent any serious disturbances.

Later.

The Fenians who were arrested at Cork yesterday, on a charge of conspiracy, were brought before the local. court this morning. After evidence had been given they were committed for trial. Throughout Ireland large gatherings have been held in celebration of the death of some of the Irish " martyrs" who have suffered at the hands of the English. Large numbers of people have attended, and impassioned oratory has been delivered:* Dulcigno is now iu the occupation of the Turkish troops under the command of Dervish Pasha, who has been directly commissioned by the Sultan to transfer the place to the Montenegrins. The Albanians found, as soon as the heights near Dulcigno were in the hands of the Turkish General, that further resistance was useless, and when called upon to surrender they at once submitted. The formal cession of the territory will, it is expected, take place in the course of a few days. Advioes from the Cape show that the position of affairs in Basutoland is very serious, and that the resources of the Colony are being greatly strained. The rebellion among the natives has extended to the tribes hitherto friendly. The Magistrate stationed at Liribe, and the whole of the residents there, were attacked, and forced to take refuge in the Magistrate's house. They were able to beat off several attacks. A force of Cape Mounted Rifles was dispatched to their relief, and has succeeded in rescuing them from their dangerous position.

A state of siege has been proclaimed at Hamburg, in consequence of the Socialistic spirit displayed in that city. It has been ordered by the authorities to be continued, as the condition of the place is still considered unsatisfactory.

November 26.

The feeling in the South of Ireland between landlords and tenants is daily growing more embittered/ In Waterford district farmers have banded together to prevent hunting being carried on over their farms, and in other ways are exhibiting a most angry spirit against the landlords.

Dervish Pasha, the Turkish commander, having obtained possession of Dulcigno, has proceeded to carry out his instructions to provide for the immediate surrender of the ceded district to Montenegro. A formal convention wag signed to-day at Dulcigno by the representatives of the Powers and of Montenegro, and by Dervish Pasha for the surrender of the place.
