Kate, out ot old Gipsy, by Prince Charlie (imported). Jean, as a 2-year-old was placed first at the Taieri and first at Danedih : as a 3-year-old took first at the Taieri and second at Tokcmairiro. Joan's dam, Kate, a3 2-year-old secured second at Taieri and first at Dunedin ; as a 3-3 T ear-old was first at Taieri and first at Duuedin, while the following year she not only took first as the best brood mare, but was awarded the Champion Cup, presented by Messrs. Wrjght, Stephenson, and Co., for the best animal in the yard. YOUNG PRINCE OF WALES, imported by Henry Hille, Esq., Wautwood, Southland, and bred by Lawrence Drew, Ksq,, Merrytou, Hamilton. Before leaving Home he was awarded two firsts, and hasbeaten all the horses of note in the Colonies. His sire, Old Prince of Wales, stands, and has stood for the last four years, at £4O. PRINCE ROYAL, as a yearling, took second prize at Timaru, firstat Chi-istchurch, and first at Oamaru. When 2 years, was second at Timaru, and first at Oamaru; when 3 years was second at Oamaru. PEDIGREE. Scotland Yet is rising four years old, an ! stands 16J bauds fiish. He is a rich dark bay, with capital short hairy legs, and four biack points. He possesses good sound feet—a very important requisite in a sire for producing draught stock. He is short in the back, well ribbed-up, with good quarters and splendid action. He has proved a sure foal-gettor, and is a splendid worker. Bred by Mr. Jamss Burgess, Southland, Sire, Young Prince of Wales, by Drew's Prince of Wales, by General, by Mr Wallet Scott, by Old Clyde, by Scotland, by Champion, which takes us fully fifty years back amongst the grand old sire 3 of Clydesdale blood in Scotland. Scotland Yet's dam was br.-.'d by Mr. A. Steele, which wa* got by the well-known Thane of Clyde, imported by M'Lean, Esq., of Benmore. Thane of Clyde, bred by Thomas Young, E-q., Renfrewshire, Scotland. He took several first prizes in Scotland when two and three years old. His dam was the celebrated mare Matchless, never beateti in her day. He also gained the first prize, against all corners, at the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Society's Show in 1867, being there for the first time shown in New Zealand. The folio >ving year he gained the Gold Medal at the Tokomairiro ■Sgricaliural and Pastoral Grand Show, and was reckoned by competentjudges to be the best bred horse in Otago ; alao, the Gold Medal at the Olatha. Scotland Yet gained second prize at the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Soc ety's fc-howin 18(7 ; aid ia 1878 he gained the same Society's first prize, beating a field of seven, and he was admitted by the judges on that occasion to be the best colt bred from the Prince of Wales.
