At the Magistrate's Court this morning, Adam Leitch and a man named Ellison, alias Thompson, were oharged with burglariously entering the warehouse of Messrs. Murray, Roberts, and Co., and stealing therefrom a quantity of rum. They were remanded for seven days,

A petition with over 400 signatures has been presented to the City Council recommending the voting of the usual salary to the Mayor (Mr. Walter), but consideration of it has been postponed on technical grounds. Beardsley as agent and representative of the company in New Zealand, the latter gentleman having resigned his position through illhealth.

GISBORNE. November 17. Mr. Clark, of the Poverty Bay Petroleum Company, has proceeded to Waipu, East Cape, in company with Major Rapata and native agents, with a view to negotiate for the oil spring blocks in that district. NELSON. November 17.

The magistrate this morning referred to the loss the Bench had sustained through the death o£ Mr. C. J. Richmond, M.H.R. TIMARIL November 17. Eliza Ann Flynn, aged fifteen months, has been burned to death at Waimate through her clothes catching fire during the absence of her mother.
