TELEGRAMS.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON. November 8. The official telegrams received by the Government by the steamer Southern Cross, which arrived at Auckland from Fiji, state that Sir Arthur Gordon intended to leave Levuka on the 2nd inst. for an extended tour amongst the Islands, after which he wag coming on to New Zealand, and would probably arriye at Auckland about thel9ch or 10th inst. He stated that his object in making Auckland the first port of call is pursuant to instructions and to confer with Mr. Des Voux, the new Governor of Fiji, who is expected to arrive by the incoming mail steamer next week. Arrived —Endeavour, schooner, from Oamaru. DUNEDIN. November 9. The weather is showery. The only amusement in town is the Druid's Fdte, which promises to be well attended.
CHRISTCHURCH. November 8. An extraordinary circumstance is puzzling the inhabitants of Kaiapoi. A mysterious shower of stones since Thursday has been falling on and about the residence of a gentleman on the North Road. Though numbers of people have visited the place the origin of the stones remains undetected, and they still continue to fall. The envelopes containing coupons for the Canterbury Times C.j.C. prize will be opened to-morrow evening. Mr. H. E. Alport, public auditor, will supervise the operations in the interests of the public. The exact number of coupons sent in is not known, as many envelopes contain more than one, some as many as fifty ; there are, however, not less than 3500. November 9. The weather is beautifully fine. There is an immense number of people in town promising a large attendance at the races. Johnny Hydes and other professionals have opened Ilichardson's Show BooLh, opposite the Theatre Royal. AUCKLAND. November 8. News from Kaipara states that the whole of the cargo of the James AStewart wag landed in splendid order. The vessel has not moved her position, and has not broken up, and if she had been watched for the purpose of getting off it is probable it might have been done. The purchaser of the hull has made a splendid bargain as everything has been stripped and on shore, and the hull, if not broken up, will last a long time on the beach. The agricultural §how to-day was very successful.

Arrived—Richard and Mary, en route, from Oamaru. TIMAIvU. November 8. A man named Andrew 'u'Pherson was found .dead on the roadside near Winchester to-day. No further particulars are to hand.
