Mine business is dull Very few transactions have taken place in produce. Stocks are generally heavy. Maize is tinner. Oats are weak and plentiful. Potatoes are quoted to-day at a much higher figure than the sales effect. Oam aru and Canterbury potatoes were sold to-day in large quantities at :20s to 2->s per ton. The local millers have lowered the price of flour LI per ton. WO bags of ali'ditly damaged bran from Oamaru brought L-"?per ton at auetoin. Bran is likely to be plentiful, but at present, in ordinary parcels to storekeepers, is worth L 4 10s to L->. In groceries, oilmen s stores. &c.. there is no alteration. I fie duty is already heavy, but with the proposed increase it will affect us considerably. Barley is without alteration. Best samples stand at 3s Gd. A few sales of feed and fair malting are reported at Is i;d to Is 3d and is 6d to 2s lOd. Potatoes. —Little business has taken place, and what has been done has been at very lowrates. Flour is in fair enquiry at LIO 10s to Lil, according to brand. Grass Seed. —The demand has almost died out, and only a limited business has been carried out. Values are in no way changed. Good farmers' dressed seed 2s fM to 2s 7d, and inferior 2s to 2s 3d. _ Dairy Produce.—Cutter. .~>M to cheese. 4d to 4Ad; hann and bacon unaltered.
