New Zealand securities are to-day quoted as follows, ex September dividends :—5 per cent. 10-40 loan, 99 ; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 100J; 4-J per cent. 1879-1905 loan, 93]-. Consols remain at 98|. Adelaide and New Zealand breadstuffs and Australian tallow are unchanged. October 20. Sir Daniel Cooper, Bai*t., at present Acting Agent-General for New South Wales, has been created a Kniglit. Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St, George. The Government offer a reward of LI 000 for the discovery of the perpetrator of the outrage near Bantry yesterday, which resulted in the death of the driver of the carriage containing his landlord, who was attacked. In consequence of recent agrarian outrages, the County of Kerry, Ireland, has been proclaimed a disturbed district. Constantinople, October 20.
News has been received that a hitch has occurred in the negotiations which were opened at Cettinge between the delegates of the Powers and Turkey for the cession of Dulcigno. Turkish delegates demand that a status qno shall be maintained as regards the territory of Scutari, which is required to be ceded to Montenegro. In consequence of this action the siucerety of Porte's offer to arrange the settlement of the Montenegrin difficulty is generally doubted. Paris, October 20.
In consequence of the actiqn which is being taken by the French Govern--11)out to carry out the March decrees and complete tbe expulsion of members of all unauthorised religious orders residing in France, the leaders of the Oarmelitea have determined to oontest at law the legality of the action of Government in ordering their expulsion, and necessary proceedings have been commenced.
