Scotland Yet is rising four years old, and stands 16£ hands high. He is a rich dark bay, with capital short hairy legs, and four black points. He possesses good sounu feet—a very important requisite in a sire for producing draught stock. He is short in the baok, well ribbed-tip, with good quarters and splendid- action. He has proved a sure foal-getter, and is a splendid worker. Bred by Mr. James Burgess, Southland. Sire, Young Prioce of Wales, by Drew's Prince of Wales, by General, by tsir Waltei Scott, by Old Clyde, by Scotland, by Champion, which takes us fully fifty years back amongst the grand old sires of Clydesdale blood in Scotland. ■ Scotland Yet's dam was brad by Mr. A. Steele, which w&3 got by the well-known Thane of Clyde, imported, by. Hugh M'Lean, Esq., of Benmore. Thane of. Clyd«, brad by Thomas Young, Esq., Renfrewshire, Scotland. He took several first prizes in Scotland when two and three years old. His dam was the celebrated mare Matchless, never beaten in her day. He also gained the first prize, against all comers, at the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Society's Show in 1867, being thejf! ior the first time shown in New Zealand. The following year he gained the Gold Medal at the Tokomairiro Agricultural and Pastoral Soci>ty'3 Grand %ow, and was reckoned by competent judges to be the best bred horse in Otago ; also, the Gold Medal at the Olutha. Scotland Yet gained second prize at the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Society's in 1877 ; and iti IS7B he gained the same Society's first prize, beating a field of seven, and he was admitted by the judges on that occasion to be the best colt bred from the Prince of Wales.
