The object of the puzzle is to place three articles on the lines A, and three of a kind on the B lines, with a blank line between. Take, for instance, a silver and copper coin ; place the silver on the A lines, and the copper on the B. Now i change the copper pieces to the A lines, :ind vice versa by advancing directly forward, either by moving to the next unoccupied lines or jumping a coin over one another (and only one other at a timo)) of the opposite kind* Continue until the« silver and copper coins have changedl, places and are in regular order one abova the other. There can be no retreating; the moves must be made forward, the A's from the top; and the B's from the bottom.
