WAITAKI ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was. held yesterday, when '.hi.re were present—Messrs. Borrie (in r,he chair), Johnston, Flicker. Dennison, Hall, Schluter, Procter, and Stewart, The Engineer (Mr, T, Oliver) was also in attendanceThe minn.tea of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and the outward correspondence was read and approved. The Assistant Under-Secretary for Public Works drew the attention of the Board to the Public Works Act, J§Bo, bearing on the stoppage, exchange, or. sale of road-lines, <l£o. The Waiareka Road Board wrote irrtu mating their willingness to pay half the cost of filling in, the lagQon. on, th,e Boundary Boad between the farms of Messrs,. Hay aqdWestlake,—Plans and sp.ecin.catio,ns were ordered to be prepared., and tenders called for the work, Letters were read from Messrs. Hjslop and Oreagh, solicitors, to the Board, and from Mr, Burbury, for the New Zealand Loan Company, with reference to expenditure on road-line in sections 29, block 4, and 56, block 2, Oamaru district.—The matter was referred to the members of the Landon Sub-division, with power to act. The Otepopo P*oa.d B,aar4 intimated that they intended withdrawing from agreement re engineer's salary about the 9ch or 10th Decernb'er.—lt waa resolved that the attention of the, Qtepopo Bjoad Board, °6 t° the terms of agrees ment presiding that three months* notice should be given to eaoh of the associated Boards and to the Engineer. It. was decided to abandon the metalling of the road-line to the reservoir. It was resolved that, ac next meeting, a general rate of 4d in the £ for the year ending 31st March, 18SI, bo. levied;. The Clerk, was instructed to apply to thp Property' Tax 'Commissioner for a copy of the valuation roll of the Waitaki E,oad district. Jt was resolved to request the Municipal Council ; to fence the approaches to the bridge over the water-race in Horse Gqlly to the fnil width of Coal Pit roadi The following notioes of motion were tabled :By Mr. Johnston, " That the day of meeting "be altered." By Mr. Dennison, "That the Clerk be appointed valuer." - Accounts amounting to L4O 12s 8d were passed for payment, and the m,eet'. in'g terminated.
