Scotland Yet's dam was bred by Mr. A. I Steele, which was got by the Thane of Clyde, imported by Hugh, 'Loan, Esq., of Benmore. Thane of Clyde, bred lay Thomas Young, Esq., Renfrewshire, He took several first pvizes in Scotland when iwo .ancl ill ye e years old. His dam was the celebrated mare Matchless, never beaten in her day. He also gained the first prize, against all comers, at the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Society's Show in 1867, being there for the first time in New Zealand. The following year he gained the Gold Medal at the Tokomairiro Agricultural and Pastoral Society' 3 Grand and was reckoned by competent judges tp be the best bred horse in Otago j djlso, the Gold Medal at the Clutha, Scotland Yet gained second prise at the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Society's Sh.QW ia 187f; and ia 1878 he gained the same Society's first prize, beating a field ot seyen, and he was admitted by r the judges on that occasion to be the beat colt bred from the Prince of Wales.
