The market is glutted with potatoes at 12. AUCKLAND. (by telegraph.) October 1. Business is dull in produce. Oats are well mpptied, especially inferior kinds, and rates are if anything easier. Maize is plentifully ■applied from the coast, and is offered at 3s 3d per bushel; Svdney maize is scarce, and rules high, some holders asking 3s 6d to 3s 9d. Oamaru potatoes still fetch L 4 in parcels, and JLS in small lots, but Canterbury produce was sold, to-day by in fiveton lots at L2 per ton. There is brisk demand for manures, and stocks of bone dost have run low. CHEISTCHURCiT GRAIN" AND PRODUCE REPORT. (From the Canterbury Times.) The business of the week has not been of an important character. The market continues quiet, and little beyond the filling of sundry orders can be reported. Since our )..♦ notice we have been favored with another fall of rain, which will be of great service at the moment. ' Wheat 13 without alteration, and be3t quality fetches 4s Id to 4s 2d. Average lots realise 3s lOd to 4s. Transactions, however, have been of a trifling kind. Oats.—The value of first-class milling samples has in no way altered ; quotations remain at Is 7d to Is Sd for this description. Bnyers; however, maintain the sameattitude, and are not over eager to purchase. Parcels of feed quality command Js 4<l to Is 5d for best lines, hut the demand is not over brisk. Inferior grades are quoted at Is Id to Is 3d. . Barley is without material alteration, and transactions have been of a limited character. Fair malting has ehanged hands at 2s (5d to 2s 9d, and a few lots of feed quality at Is 61 to Is 9d. Potatoes remain comparatively unsaleable. Quotations are hard to give in the present state of the market, and growers 3re selling at the best prices obtainable. Flour.—-A fair business in flour is reported by the millere at LlO 10s to Lll, according to brand and size of parcel. Grass Seed.—The season being so far advanced, business in grass is becoming more restricted, and buyers to hold ars more cautions in selecting. Good farmers seed, free from dirt, ia worth 2a 4d to 2s 7d ; in"ferior kinds, 2s. Dairy Produce.—Butter and cheese are without alteration.

MELBOURNE.

The Argus of September 21 reports Breadstnffe are firm, and in flour the stiffness of holders has checked business. Trade sales are making at US 10s to LS 12s 6d, and in one instance a line of 100 tons could have been sold at equal to the figure. Wheat maintains our quotation of 4s to 4s Id, but there is not much very prime offering. A parcel of 250 ba. * of fair quality was disposed of at close' on 4s. In feeding grains there is little to notice in the way of sales beyond for actual requirements. Feeding oats are in moderate request at Is lid to 2s 4d, according to sample. Maize is quiet, imt no great demand has been experienced. We quote 3s to 3s Id, bat with the improvement advised in Sydney better prices are ABtieipated. •*
