HORSE PARADE.

The annual parade of entire horses under the auspices of the North Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held this afternoon on the Show Ground. There was a fine turn-out, not only in numbers, but in quality, twenty-three horsey of various kinds being paraded before a large concourse of spectators, including farmers from all portions of the district. As will be seen by the list given below, the horses on parade included representatives from Timaru, Southland, &c., and it is no exaggeration to say that a finer show of entire horses could not have been produced in any part of the Colony. We have not the space nor the inclination to select any of the horses for special mention, more especially as the whole, or nearly &o, of the animals will be brought int.Q the show ring for judgment within a few weeks. We will therefore content ourselves with saying that as those in search of sires had a fine opportunity of making selections, the end and aim of the paracle was fully attained. Nor were those present backward in criticising the excellences or defects (if there wef§ any) of the animals, and; were one to attempt to base his conclusions upon the opinions expressed, he would in the end become considerably mixed, and the result would be that he would come to the conclusion that farmers, like all others, disagree upon essential points. Every horse : on the r ground had his, eirole of admirers, and it is possible that these were riot fa?-' wrong, for the whole of I the animals presented some particular i points for admiration. Draught horses were well represented by the following first-class animals—Donaldson's Young Banker, Chrystal's* ©ainty Davie, Dou's Lord and Lors Lyon, McGregor's Prince Royal, .IJunoan's Glenlyon, Hutchison's Southland Champion, Young Muir Lad, and Toko-Rahi Jock, Campbell's J>uka of Wellington, M'Kerrow'a Napoleon, M'Ewan's Scotland Yet, Warnock's Bonnie Scotland, and Alex. Graham's Loudon Lad. Of thoroughbreds there iweve— King's Talisman, M'Bratney's [ Tasso, Paterson's Pertobe, Devine'si Ringleader, Gibson's Duntroon, aud Clydesdale's Young Panic (a two-.year-old by Pertobe out of Young Lady Cracroft). Roadsters or oo.aoh-hoyses, were represented by Williams and Bentley's Nimrod and Henderson and Qrr's Goldfinder.
