"THE CRITIC" AND THE ORGAN RECITAL.
TO TIIE EDITOR OF THE OAMA&C MAIL. Sik,—The report your local contemporary gives on last night's oirgan recital at St. Lulce'a Church is, to. say the least, rather "mixed," and appears to be thm effort of a novice- in musical matters, effort sometimes, apiiag expressions wealways see in a».perfunctory style of music-criticism—-fon- iiastance, "liquid-toned tnorceftu,'" s which is a fine bit of wording;.' at ano&h&r time showing his own peculiar laudation of the female sex ami welcome' to a stranger songstress by dubbing thelatter an "amateur lady," an epithetwhich " hardly ever" can be considered a* complimentary one. But I have another idea. The general character of the report bears out aa opinion of mine that the compilor had r®* cenijy been amongst" liquid "friends,!" his calling Gounod's march "Romainw a "sparkling one" i 3, certainly, ia 1S hot \veather, sugge&fcijve of " iila Romaine."
Allow m 0.,, iftt cohqJ'waw, to Bay > tt downright English that, the wholppe rfornianctji night waa " stunning," » I1(1 Qo.uld hardly be " be&t."—Yours, &<>• AIWHON?-
