The cricked match, Australians v. All-Englancl Eleven, was resumed today at the Oval. The Australians continued their second innings, and made a splendid stand against the bowling of the Englishmen. The innings closed for 327 runs, Murdoch being, not out for 153. Alexander scored 33, and was caught out. The Home team, requiring 57 runs to win the match, went in for their second innings, and obtained the required number with the loss of five wickets. There was again a large attendance, and great interest was taken in the contest throughout the three days' play.

Professor Proctor lectured last night at the Theatre Royal. The house was crowded, The Pacific mail ship City of Sydney sailed yesterday for Auckland, with the Homeward mail, Brisbane, September 10. An appeal is now being heard in the Supreme Court in the case of the New Zealand Insurance Company v. the South Bx-itish Insurance Company, in which a verdict was given for the plaintiffs.
