Female servants saltable for farm* are scarce, and also good hotel ynfe Musterers and shepherds will soon be in request, and may look forward to greater inquiry. Trades are in fair work, the only exceptions being carpenters and plasterers; yet in every part of the town buildings are being erected, and upon the whole business, although doll, is evidently more healthy than it has been. Grain and Produce.—Little change can ba noted in the grain market during the past -week. If anything a little demand has been experienced for some lines, and transactions both in first and second hand 3 have been more frequent. Prices, however, have not been appreciably affected. Wheat.—No alteration can be noted m this grain. Sales of good milling continue to be made at 4s Id to 4s -2d, the millers Iwing the principal purchasers. For extra samples a shade over the above quotation •would be paid. A few sales of lower grades lave transpired at rates ranging between 3s fid to 3s IGd. Oat*. —The market presents much the came features as the preceding week. There are buyers of all classes of milling and good feed oats at current quotations, and the quantity brought forward and sold during the week shows an increased business. Inferior lots, however, are not Baleable. _ For fan bright milling samples, the quotation is Is 6d to Is Sd; and good feed, Is 4d to Is 5<L Lower grades, Is Id to Is 3d. Barley lim in no way altered since onr last report; supply and quotations remain about the same. Potatoes. —The market is without change, and holders are pnshing sales as much as possible. Buyers, however, are scarce, and -values are nominally stated at 20s. Grass seed.—A larger business has transpired in rye-grass during the week than has "been the case for some time. The quantity brought forward and taken np, has been considerable, at prices ranging from 2s to 2s 7d, according to cleanness of the sced._ A few lines of really fine dressed have realised a shade over these rates.
