It is expected the New Zealand exhibits at the forthcoming Exhibition will -be very good, there being 600 exhibitors.

A vessel, the name of which, has not yet transpired, has been wrecked on Cape Otway, and completely broken up. A portion of the crew have been rescued, and search is being made for other survivors.

The Government are continuing to make reductions in the public service, especially in the Customs and Land Departments. Many officials will be superannuated, including Captain Standish, Chief Commissioner of Police. Sydney, September 3. Hennessy's brandy; bulk, quarters, 10s 3d.

The Orient Company's steamship Sorata, which arrived yesterday from Plymouth, and left during the day for Melbourne, has gone aground at Cape Jervis, Kangaroo Island, at the entrance of the Gulf of St. Vincent. The vessel is in' a dangerous position,' but the passengers have all been landed safely on the island.
