For _ the former from 9s 9d to 17s Gd was obtained, and for the latter 8s 3d to 10s 9d pec head. On account of the New Zealand Agncnltural Company, Limited, we disposed of 24S head of cross-breds at from 12s t.M to 144 ; and on account of Messrs. Qartley and Wilson Bros, of IS6 merinos at Ss 3d to 10s per head. Quotation for prime mutton, _2Jd per lb. Wool. The London auctions opened on the 17th inst. at a decline estimated, according to a telegram received here, _afc from 10 to 12i per cent, on last sale prices, with a dull** market. Later advices to hand this morning record some improvement during the three succeeding days, amounting (except in the ease of cross-breds) to a return to the level of last sales, 45,500 bales having been catalogued up to the 21st. Sheepskins. —We offered a full catalogue on Monday, which met with a fair deniao4Bntchera' cross-bred skins ruled Cd to Sd each lower than at previous sale; merinos •were unchanged. On the basis of the sales we quote butchers' cross-breds up to 4s 9d, merinos up to 4s, and station skiiis from Is lOd to 3s lOd each. Hides. —Late values are still supported, the demand being active enough to clear off all parcels coming to hand at 3Jd per lb for wet-salted, and 20s each for butchers green hides. . , Tallow.—We report sale 3 at recent quotations—say 20s to 27s per cwt. for wellrendered tallow, and las to 17sfor rough fat, at which there is a moderate demand lor local consumption. . Grain.—Wheat: Market qniet. The improvement recorded last week appears to hare somewhat subsided, but prime samples can still be placed at about quotations then given, although the demand is not brisk. We quote from 4s 2d for medium to 4s Gd for prime milling. Oats : There is no business to rfeport. Holders show no disposition to give way, and pressing requirements having been supplied, buyers hold ale®'Barley : Good malting samples are saleable, and transactions have taken place at last week's quotations. For inferior kinds, however, there is still no demand. VV e quote, as before, prime malting, 3js 3d to 3s Cd; fair malting, 3s per bushel.
