(RKUTER G TBLEGKAM". P2P„ PRESS ASSOCIATION) London, August 17. The American wheat harvest prospects are favorable, ami are estimated at 500,000,000 bushels. The third series of wool auctions opened to-day. There was a good attendance of Home and foreign buyers, There were 6900 bales offered, There being inferior and faulty wools of all kinds, the tone of the bidding was hesitating. The wool auction closes on October Ist. In the House of Commons, the Marquis of Hartington, Secretary of State for India, in submitting the Indian Budget, said an increase of taxation was proposed of L 1,800,000. He also mentioned that no definite proposal had yet been made by the iiritish Government to render any aid until such times as hostilities were suspended. Wool sales have opened with prices at from Jd to Id lower than at the last sales. August 18. In the House of Commons to-day, Mr. W. E. Forster, Chief Secretary for Ireland, denounced the wickedness and cowardice shown by Mr. Dillon in his seditious speech at Kildare, but had no intention of prosecuting him. A report was current to-day that two barrels of gunpowder had been found in a railway tunnel under the Cork Barracks, but an enquiry proved the whole tiling to be a hoax. Paris, August 18.
