THE KYEBURN MURDER.
Dunedin, August 11. The inquest on the body of Mrs. Younp was resumed this morning at the Ky 0 . burn. A number ofe.Chinamen have been arrested. The police are confident, from the evidence in their possession, that they have discovered 'that the crime can bo sheeted home to either one or two Chinamen. The cord used for gagging was of a most peculiar character, and no trace of one of a similar kind could be obtained anywhere. A Chinaman arrested yesterday in a hut about a mile from Nasoby had this peculiar cord in his possossion. He had also a number of scratches and other marks on hiß person, some of them such as might have been inflicted by a candlestick. His boots also correspond with the prints in the neighborhood of tho garden fence. Some of the other Chinamen have scratches and bruises, and it is asserted that teeth marks can also ho traced. Commissioner jWeldon has been most untiring in his exertions, being ably assisted by Inspector Hickson. August 12, At the inquest on the Kyeburn murder, an open verdict was returned. A rider was added recommending the Government to offer a reward, as it is hopeless to. expect to convict without the assistance of the Chinese.
