A FARCICAL WHIPPING.
(by telegraph.) Napiek, August 5. Prisoner Hewson, who was at the last criminal sessions sentenced to two years' imprisonment and 25 lashes, received his first flogging yesterday. The operation was performed privately. The general impression is that the whipping was a farce. The man .vho wielded the cat was allowed to disguise himself by blackening hig face, and it is thought the" whole thing was carried out to the satisfaction of the prisoner.
