SHAG POINT COLLIERY DISPUTE.

(by telegraph.)

(from our, own correspondent.)

Wellington, July 2.

The following telegram was received by Mr. Shrimski to-day from Palmerston : " The Shag Point Company is bringing pressure on the Government to eject the miners from the beach reserve close to the Company's leasehold. If this is done, some married men with families will be homeless in the depth of winter. The men are perfectly orderly, looking for work, and willing to pay rent. Please ;interfere on men's behalf. The ranger is now here."—Mr. Shrimski submitted the message to the Government, and received a reply that the Government will not eject the miners so long as they are peaceable and do not interfere with the freedom of others.
