OTEPOPO ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held on Friday last.
The Clerk announced that the vacancies in the several subdivisions had been filled as follows :—Mr. John Reid, for All-day ; Messrs. Morton, Mitchell, and M'Leod, for Chelsea; Mr. Diehl, for Copmanhurst; and Messrs. Henderson, H. Morrison, and R. Scott, for Sydney. The following members were present: —Messrs. Falconer (Chairman), Henderson (Treasurer), M'Donald, Ross, Watson, Morrison, Scott, Mitchell, Morton, and M'Leod.
Mr. Henderson proposed and Mr. M'Donald seconded, " That the minutes of last meeting be adopted as read." The outward correspondence was read and approved, and the inward correspondence was read and considered as follows ; A letter from Messrs. Barr and Oliver (Engineers) announcing arrangements during the illness of Mr. Oliver, which were considered satisfactory. A letter from the County Council offCv ing to pay half cost of bridge over Bo alley Creek, cost not to exceed L 340. Mr. M'Donald moved that consideration of the matter lie over till next meeting. I Seconded by Mr. Henderson, and carried.. Letters from Messrs. Cooper and Waddell respecting a foot-bridge over the Otepopo River at Breakneck.—On the motion of Mr. Henderson, seconded by Mr. Watson, the Clerk was instructed to inform Mr. Cooper that if he can make arrangements with the land proprietors the Board will be willing to assist, but without responsibility.
A letter from Mr. A. Sim about a broken culvert an the Dogsden road.—lt was decided to send a surfaceman to repair it. It was agreed to let the settlement of the deviation of road at Breakneck lie over for three months till Master Houghton came of age.
Mr. Morrison moved that the formation of Monk-street be left to the members of the sub-division, the cost not to exceed L(V Seconded by Mr. Scott, and
carried. Richard Donaldson offered to act as Ranger at LI per week to devote threo days a week to the duties and whon required at any time.—Mr. Henderson moved that the terms be accepted for three months, thereafter to be terminable by a month's notice on either- side. Seconded by Mr. Morton, and carried. Accounts amounting to LI4B Is were passed for payment, and a vote of thanks the Chairman brought the meeting to a close.
