HARBOR BOARD.
The fortnightly mooting of the Board was held to-day, when there were present —Messrs. Sumpter (Chairman), Aitkon, Duncan, Gibbs, Borrie, and HasseU, The minutes of the last meeting wer« read and confirmed, and the respondence r-eac\ and approved, A letter was wad from Mr. Shrimski, M.H.8., intimating his entire approval of the report of the Board for the construction of the north wall, having been always of opinion that this work should be flrat undertaken, and the basin oompletod before proceeding with interior works. Regarding the harhor light, he was sorry to say that he had not succeeded in ob* tainirig one without payment, He oould advise the Board to obtain one of these lights, as they were really first-class. ' A letter was read from the Marino Department, intimating that tho Board could obtain one of the port lights ou paying the sum of LGS into pwWie account. It was to purchase who of the lights
Some aocounts for arrears of rent were referred to the solicitors for collection.
Accounts to the amount of LlO5 5s 114 were passed for payment. The Chairman said very strong representations hftd bean made to him that the present railway tariff waß handicapping the port, and proving detrimental to the welfare of the district.
