: WELLINGTON. June 24. A deputation from the Licensed Victuallers' Conference waited on the Government this morning with the suggested amendments to the licensing Bill. The reply was that the matter would be considered. CHRISTCHURCH. • June 23. A ipeeting of unemployed was held today, at which a telegram from the delegates at Wellington, was read, stating that Mr. Blair had told the Government that the men at Weka Pass receiyed rations fit 13 3d:per "day, while the work was let by contract. This was indignantly denied by the men present, who said it was not so. Some more about the emigration scheme to America was-' said, and the feeling was apparently in favor of pushing this on, as a kind of threat .to. if old in terror over the Government if they not find work.
