BROACHING CARGO.
Auckland, June 22. John Tehvon, William Begin, Alfred Clement, Qharles Johnston, Charles and George Justin, wpre brought up on a charge of broapfying cargq and stealing whisky, beer, candles, &c., valued at L3oj from the British ship Chili on the high seas. Sub-Inspector Pardy said the conduct of the men during the voyage had been extremely bafl. The Captain found on arrival in port that tli§ Qargo had been broached to a very qongiderable extent, but tp \yliat extent had not been ascertained. Whisky and other things had been taken, and gandjes left to burn out in all sorts of places to the imminent danger of the ship and , everyone on board. There were 200 : barrels of gun* powder stowed in the vessel, arid had the powder ignited the case would. not have come into Court, as the shock'would have been fatal to the vessel, aiid air on board..
