Mr. R. Leigh reports that he held a sale of general grocery stock, furniture, &c., at k;» mart, on Friday, the ISth inst. The attendance was good, and the prices obtuned were very satisfactory. He also held ft sale of fruit and forest tree?, fiuniture, Ac., at his mart, to-d«y. Tfce attendance W2B large and bidding only moderate ; the whole of the lots submitted being cleared.

AUCKLAND. [by telegraph, f June IS. The tone of business is much the same as Iswi week. There is considerable activity in insurance, bank, and mining shares —in iaroranee shares, because of the profitable work of the past half-year, and in mining, bngan*«» of the improved prospects of the improved prospects of the several standard minee. Maize is easier, being quoted at 3s 64 to 3s 9d per bnshel, the former price for Ifr— The market is fairly supplied with e«lonial maize, but Sydney is scarce. Oats, although plentiful, are firm at former quotations. Oatmeal is glutted and weak in price. Potatoes are unchanged, but those from Canterbury and South are rapidly superceding Auckland growth.
