AUCTIONEER'S REPORT.
Connell and Clowes report that they held a clearing sale by auction yesterat Mackay's Yards, on account of the receiver in the partnership of Meek and Scott. The attendance was large, and bids were satisfactory throughout. The grain market during the past week, la common with general business, has been exceedingly- quiet.- Transactions are resorted in f different lines, bnt there is an absence of life in the market. Wheat is still quoted at 3a 6d for first milling, and 3s 3d to 3s 5d for good average samples. The inquiry for seed lots is moderate, and parcdn: of this class are quoted at 4s to 4s 3d. Chichwheat is in full supply, and ranges from 2s to 2s 6d for low, and up to 2s lOd for better sorts. Oats.—The value of oats has not altered to any degree. First-class milling commands la. 4d to Is 4Jd, and feed quality Is 2d to Is 3d. ...
B»rley.—The aspect of the market is in no way altered from that of last week. Firstclass is in limited supply, and realises 33 3d to 3s 4d, while good malting samples find boyen at 2a 6d to 3s, according to quality ._ Potatoes are without any alteration, 25s being the best price ruling, The demand is sot active. Bayers are not over eager. Elanr is selling at L 9 to LlO, according to brand. Dairy Produce. Butter, 9d to lOd ; •heese, 4d to 4Ad ; hams and bacon, 9Jd. Sales of stock of Addington on Wednesday |nt attracted a large number of dealers and others, bat the bidding was not so brisk as oa the previous market day. The quality of (beep was inferior, and there was a slight reduction in price, 2{d being quoted per lb ; beef, 17s 6d to 20s per IOOIbs. A large Dumber of pigs were offered, but of inferior quality, and brought lower prices. Good yifa axe in great demand.
