DEPUTATION TO MR. JONES. The deputation appointed at the meeting Beld yesterday waited upon Mr. Jones to-day, and laid before him the result of the meeting, with a request that he would, in Ilia place in the House of Representatives, give them his assistance in carrying out the views of the meeting. Mr. Jones promised to interest himself in the several matters, but thought there "was little probability of the beer tax being abolished. At the same time he thought it probable the tax would be reduced to one half the amount proposed By the Government, aa the feeling appeared to be in that direction.
