DUNEDIN. • - Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report for the week ending 16th June as follows: , , Fat Cattle. —We have to report a short supply thi3 week, only 131 head being yarded, consisting chiefly of fair and good quality beef. The demand was brisk, and ma advance of fully 2s 6d per 1001b over last week's rates was obtained, a few pens bringing as much as 27s 6d. We sold 68 head as foUowa : —On account of James Shand, Esq., 22 bullocks, at from L 8 15s to Ll4 ss—average LIO 7s 6d ; on account of James Gow, Esq;, 10 bullocks, at from L 9 17s 6d to Lll 17s 6d—average LlO 17s 6d ; on account of Messrs James Morrison and F. S. M'Kay, 36 bullocks and cows, at up to L 8 15s for and L 3 12s 6d for cows. We quote beef, at 25s per 1001b. Pit Calves. —None yarded. Fat Sheep.—The number penned to-day wms 833, of which 503 were cross-breds, the rest store merino wethera. On account of the very small number forward prices hardwiwl considerably, as much as 19s being obfor cross-breds. The advance, however, is scarcely likely to be sustained, as the prices obtained to-day will doubtless have the effect of bringing in a larger number next week. We sold on account of the N.Z. and A- Land Co., 140 cross-bred ewes at 15s, on account of Messrs Ross Bros, 347 cross-bred ewes, at from 12s 3d to 15s. We -l-r. »nTn«i out 330 store merino wethers. We quote prime mutton at 31 per lb. Fat Lambs.—None penned. Store Cattle and Store Sheep.—We have no sales to report. ' Horses of all descriptions are extremely of Bale. The entry for last Saturday's ■ale was a small one, and the prices obtained were far from satisfactory to vendors. We quote heavy draughts at from L 35 to L 45 ; medium, L2O to L3O; good hacks and light harness horses, Ll7 to L2o; light and inferior, L 3 to LB. Wool.—Under date London, June Bth, bih* friends Messrs. Murray, Roberts, and Co., have received the following cablegram : "Sales closed dull. Prices for merinos are 12J per cent.; inferior cross-bred, 25 per cent; and superior cross-bred, 15 per cent, below opening rates. 355,000 bales withdrawn." Sheepskins.—We held our weekly sale on Monday last as usual. There was a good attendance of buyers, and fair competition. Prices, however, were scarcely so high as last week. We sold about 1900 skins as followß:—Butchers' cross-breds at from 2s lid to 4s 4d; merinos, 2s Id to 2s IOd; station skins at from Is 6d to 4s Id ; skins Is bales at from 4id to 6id per lb. HMm—During the week we have sold 93 at 3fd per lb, which we quote as market vainer Tallow is in good request. This week we «nM three tons good mixed at L 26 per ton, mil several lots of rough fat at Ll7. We quote prime mutton at L2S per ton; good mixed, L 26; inferior, L 23 to L 24; rough fat, Ll7. Grain.—Wheat: Only prime samples are wanted, -and these are saleable at from 3s 10d to 3s lid per bushel for extra choice lota; medium to good, 3s 6d to 3s 9d; fowls' wheat, 23 6d to 3s. Oats are in fair demand. We quote prime milling at Is 5d per bushel; good bright feed, Is 4d; discolored, Is 3d. Barley: Extra prime samples find purchasers at from 3s 3d to 33 6d per bushel; ordinary and discolored qualities are not saleable at any price.
