Sir,—The people of North Otago declare that they will not put up with this most iniquitous measure, The Governmeut, alarmed at the universal howl of indignation it lias raised throughout the whole Colony, are willing to reoeive suggestions for its piodifioatjon. But the people of New Zealand will have nothing short of its utter abolition. They do not believe in Conservative half-way measures, Mangle suoh a reptile as you will, its venom still remains. Nor will the people stay thoir hands at" its destruction } they demand the retirement of the Government whose incapability has devised an not so fraught with danger to the liberties
of the State. To this end! his Worship the Mayor will Ibe asked to call a publio meeting! at sa early a date as possible to enable our representatives to give expression to our decision on the subject in Parliament.—l am, &0., . ' Vox Popum.
