GCTtDIKS, IN deference to the desire of tbo Electors of this district —principally expressed by means c f Dumerousiy-eigneu requisitions received by me from the town and country during the last few days—l offer myself as a candidate for the seat in Parliament rendered vacant through the retirement of Mr. Bislop. I purpose to address as many meetings in the centres of population throughout the electorate as time will permit, the dates of which meetings will be shortly notified in the local papers. GENTLEMEN, Having received a numerously-signed requisition desiring me to come forward as a candidate for the seat in Parliament vacated by the resignation of Mr. Hislop, I have determined to place my services at your disposal. If elected, I will use my utmost endeavor to assist in carrying such measures as will do justice alike to all classes of the community. I will give a hearty support to any Govern- 1 ment that may be in power in carrying out inch reforms as will conduce to the reduction of departmental expenditure without destroying the efficiency of service, and in all honest endeavors to reduce taxation and to practice strict economy. The information which I have gained in connection with our railway system as a member of the Railway Commission will, I trust, be of service to the country if I am elected, as it will enable me to aid in putting an end to all unprofitable railway schemes such as have been forced upon Parliament during past years. I shall be in favor of the uiraost liberality, consistent with prudence, in settling population upon our Crown lands, and of continning the present liberal electoral law.
